MyBlogLog Widget
A client was asking me about the new "widgets" feature that Typepad now offers. To be honest, I hadn't even looked at them so I couldn't respond with any suggestions or feedback.
What's a Widget:
A widget is a little piece of content or functionality provided by a third party that you can place in the siderail of your TypePad blog. Technically, it's just a snippet of HTML and/or JavaScript that you can manage like any other sidebar content module on your blog.
Typepad has over 30 partners and offers dozens of widgets. I took a look and was intrigued by one called MyBlogLog.
MyBlogLog tracks your visitors by what link they arrive on and what link they leave on. There are lots of web stats programs that can provide this info. However the widgets feature makes it really easy to add to your blog.
When you log in to your Typepad account, click on Design and then Change Content Selections.
In the right column, scroll to the bottom to the widgets feature. Click on that link, choose the widget you want to add and follow the directions for adding it to your blog. Most of it is automated so you don't have to worry about creating a TypeList.
Are you using widgets? If so, which ones? What kind of experience have you had adding and using the widgets? Post a comment below to share your insights. Thanks!
