... to your blog, that is. Yvonne DiVita of Lipsticking was recently interviewed by Andy Wibbels. Between the treadmill and a drive to a networking luncheon, I was finally able to hear the entire podcast.
Though much was basic and well known to most experienced bloggers, it's always helpful to get a fresh perspective from someone else who has been there, done that. Yvonne and Andy covered 5 ways to drive traffic to your blog. Briefly (please listen to the audio for full details) they are:
- Focus on a specific subject or niche and set an editorial calendar to stay on topic
- Visit and comment on other blogs - participate in the blogosphere and make your voice known
- Contribute to blog carnivals
- Be provocative, or passionate about your subject
- Conduct interviews with experts in your subject, either by email or podcast and post on your blog. This sends traffic back and forth between you and your interviewee and also creates traffic from people who listen or read (just like I'm doing here).
