Business Blogging Tip: Target 4 Learning Styles

Blog readers take in information using four different learning styles. People are imaginative, analytical, common sense or dynamic learners. To appeal to each learning style, write your business blog posts addressing different needs.

When writing a business blog, be aware that not everybody learns the same way, not everybody takes in information and processes like you do.

Try to include four kinds of questions readers might be asking. Don't leave anyone out. Ask and answer these questions in each post: why, what, how and what if.

Learn more about how you can make your blog writing more effective in order to educate, entertain and engage blog readers and potential clients. Join our Better Business Blog Writing program ... starts Monday, May 19.

Business Blogging Video Tip: How Personal Should You Be?

Blogs started as personal Web diaries but when blogging for business, you decide how much personal stuff to share. What to share and what to keep private? Remember "what's in it for readers."

Decide which of your personal information makes good fodder for blog posts, and what is off grounds: spouse, kids, pets, hobbies?

It's best to use your stories to illustrate a point. Try to include a teaching point of view. What can readers learn from your stories? You can entertain readers AND educate and engage them when you include a lesson for them.

4 Easy Reminders for Writing Great Blog Content

Writer_s_deskEducate, Entertain, Engage and Enrich your readers with your blog posts...

It would be presumptuous to say all you need for creating great blog content is to Educate, Entertain, Engage and Enrich your readers. How wonderfully simplistic that would be! And it's true, only easier said than done.

I think blog writing can often be quick and easy, but I also believe that to make your blog work as a marketing tool for your business you've got to write more than entertaining fluff pieces that link to other great posts.

That's why we've gathered together everything under the sun that we've learned about writing great blog posts. We're teaching Better Business Blog Writing May 19 and 21, 2008 in a two-part teleseminar.

We won't spend much time on dangling participles or grammar, however, even though that can be important. This is purely business blog writing and we promise it's going to be more fun than your English classes!

(Denise and I would love it if you join us, we're going to make this fun and informative so you can get better results from writing on your blog in less time with less effort: info here.)

Here's the press release announcement with details:

Blog Content & SEO: Married happily ever after...

Wedding_couple_kissing Blogs are natural search engine magnets, but you also need to understand the importance of using the right keywords, in headlines and when writing content that markets your business. SEO isn't something I understand fully, but Lee Odden is an expert I listen to.

Denise and I have always stressed how to do this organically so that your writing makes sense to readers. Lee Odden is an expert on the tech side of SEO. His Online Marketing Blog was recently named #2 on a list of Junta 42 Top Blogs for Content Marketing. Congratulations, Lee, that's well deserved.

(Our own WritingontheWeb Blog is #24 on the list, good for us!) But never mind that. I want you to read Lee's recent post about blog content and search optimization because it will enlighten your understanding of what it takes to write blog content to get good results with your 'findability' on the Web.

Blog content and search engine optimization go together like a horse and carriage. You can't have one without the other. The post is called Tips on Content Centered Link Building, go read it now.
